Recruitment Guide So, you want to join the Thalassian LegionSinu a’manore! We’re delighted you want to join our guild, and we’d love to have you! Let’s get you started, then, with our— Recruitment PoliciesThese are just a few ground rules for the applicants we take. This way, you can be sure if we’re the guild for you and you character!- The joining/enlisting character must be on a NA (North American) RP Realm, such as Wyrmrest Accord or Moon Guard.
- The joining/enlisting character must have a somewhat detailed TRP file.
This doesn’t mean it has to be a massive or even 100% completed TRP, but your “Characteristics” and “Miscellaneous” should at least have a few things filled out.- The joining/enlisting character must be willing to take orders from Commanding Officers.
- The joining/enlisting character cannot be a convicted criminal or traitor of Quel’Thalas.
- The joining/enlisting character cannot be loyal to the Grand Alliance; ties due to business or family are acceptable.
However, should these ties cause conflicts of interest ICly, they will ICly be addressed accordingly. Officers need to be OOCly informed if/when this is going to transpire, as well.- The joining/enlisting character cannot be a Human, Dwarf, Gnome, or Worgen.
Quel’dorei with ties to the Silver Covenant and Ren’dorei in general will be looked at with a careful eye, but are welcome. If these policies are fine for you and your character, then you’re ready to join! Character Joining HookUse this if you need help establishing in your head how/why your character decided to enlist. The Thalassian Legion, also known as “The Fourth Thalassian Legion”, is a paramilitary organization. It is a state-sanctioned but irregular armed group focused on the security of Quel’Thalas. While Quel’Thalas’ formal military forces face off with external threats, the Thalassian Legion sees to internal security. They do not deal in wider politics and only enforce the existing laws of Silvermoon when needed as directed by the Ranger-General. As such, the Thalassian Legion, like the traditional armed forced or naval fleets, are publicly known and regularly recruit by various means such as:- Public advertising through postings — posters with information about the Thalassian Legion can be found on job boards and around major Horde cities
- Event marketing — the Thalassian Legion appears at recruitment events regularly
- Word of mouth — exploits of the Thalassian Legion are rarely heard, but they are members of the Crimson Sun Conclave, and have provided security at their events on more than one occasion
Note: The Thalassian Legion’s leadership does not generally seek characters out to recruit them. Your character must seek to join the Thalassian Legion themself. Arranging an InterviewOnce you’ve got your character hooked, time to set up an IC interview! The following is all public information ICly. The Thalassian Legion has three overall heads knows as High Command. Each leads a different core division within the Thalassian Legion’s ranks. However, High command also each has at least one second-in-command under them. To arrange an IC interview, you only need message/whisper someone in @High Command or an @Officer to begin planning that. Keep in mind that the initiative is yours. Don’t wait for us to reach out to you! OtherMembers are allowed up to four IC characters in the Thalassian Legion. However, there is no limit to the number of OOC characters members may keep in the guild. When you join the guild in game, you must update your Guild note with either “[Insert Character name]’s Main” or “[Insert Character name]’s IC/OOC Alt”. Example: “Ren’melorn Soulsong’s Main” and “Ren’melorn’s IC Alt”/”Ren’melorn’s OOC Alt”.- New Recruit Guide Now that you’ve been recruited into the Thalassian Legion’s ranks, here’s a bit of a helper’s guide to starting out if you’re unsure of anything. Proactivity and Personal AgencyFirst and foremost, remember that this guild is only a vehicle for your RP; you’re the driver. The Thalassian Legion’s values personal agency and a proactive approach to roleplay and storylines in its members. We are not here to dictate and write your story for you, only some of the events that happen around (or, with your expressed interest or permission, to) your character. We may be a military guild, but we don’t want to completely restrict your ability to write. However, remember that as a military guild, there are some innate limitations and consequences to actions that apply. If your character’s alignment is chaotic or evil then they will definitely struggle to find a place. If you’re here to casually RP on-and-off due to being in other guilds or real life responsibilities, that is more than okay.
We don’t pay your sub and you won’t be booted for prioritizing your wants or needs. Though keep in mind if you don’t log into your Thalassian Legion character(s) once every 2 months, the character will be removed from the guild. However, you will not be removed from the Discord, only dropped to the Honored Guest role. If you wish to return with your character(s) you only need contact one of High Command of an Officer to have them and your roles reinstated. Still, more passive or inactive characters will not stand out as much as their present and active counterparts. We are a guild with characters and plots that progress at a steady pace. If you want your characters to shine, you to need to build to that yourself, either by the luck of the dice by attending events, by plotting RPs with other members, or by seeking RP with your fellow members so your presence can be not simply seen but felt.
- Where do I start?Your character has been interviewed and officially enlisted into the ranks? Good. Keep in mind that now that your character has been ICly interviewed and is now an official recruit (Initiate if you’re a Legionnaire, Shadeling if you’re Inquisitorious, and Acolyte if you’re Magistrum) they will have received the following items (either from the interviewing officer or an NPC off-screen):
- A Rank Insignia & Tabard
- The standard is that one’s rank insignia be worn over the heart. However, if an individual’s armor prevents this, it’s permissible to wear it elsewhere so long as it is somewhere appropriate and visible.
- The rank insignia provided will magically upgrade as its wearer is promoted over time, courtesy of High Command’s Head Magistrix Duskstrider.
- A copy of the Official Handbook
- Each handbook is arcane-enchanted to float and follow on command for reduced difficulty in transportation. (There is not a document for this yet)
- A Crystal Communicator
- Created by Magistrix Dusksrider, each Crystal Communicator consists of a small, teardrop-shaped arcane-violet crystal that dangles from a polished golden ear cuff.
- These crystals grant the individual who wears them the ability to send their thoughts as text at will through a magic-transmission channel; one must simply think or say “arkhana anaria”, and it will conjure a small, similarly arcane-violet magical pop-up interface that only the wearer can see. This enables them to read through and view both new and old messages.
- To send a message, an individual need only think their intended statements, which will appear as white text on the interface with personal identification—it will only send with intention, so there is still the capacity for privacy of thought. However, this swift communication is only possible through the public interface; private messages are not supported. For such things, one will need to use traditional means, such as sending a letter to the intended person.
- Note that these are not guaranteed to function across temporal or dimensional boundaries—only cross-continental within the same time and dimension.
Now, with that out of the way! The best place to start is the requestable-roles. Make sure you have the roles you need so you’ll be tagged as necessary for events relevant to you. You’ll want to update/add these if you bring in more characters who aren’t in the same branch as your first character. Another roll we recommend is the @LFRP role, so you can be tagged in the looking-for-roleplay chat if others are seeking some light RP outside of missions or maybe looking to push a story they’re doing that doesn’t necessarily require a calendar event. Next, feel free to add your character(s) to the member-introductions forum. You can use the template, or set it up however you wish. Be as detailed or not as you are willing! After that, make sure you prepare a d20-system sheet! There is a link for a generator you can use to help make your sheet if you’d like, and we’ve recently updated the doc for V5.0 to be much more simplified and streamlined. You won’t be able to act in combat events without one! If you need help, you can contact the system’s creator, @Vandonna Voidmoon, or other @Officers to guide you. Then it’s all you from there! You can start looking for RP to introduce your character and start networking, or you can wait until an event rolls around if that’s more your style.
